No More Drama

It has come to my attention that I may be a bit guilty of being a tiny bit dramatic. You may say, "You? Karyn? No way. Never." But yes, I tend to over-dramatize situations a tiny bit. Like that fish I caught that one time on my middle school friend's dad's boat really was a shark. So it may have been a baby Nurse Shark, and Nurse Sharks may be virtually harmless to humans, but yes, I caught a shark, I swear it! And that one time that my dad hit me with that tennis ball and I had a really huge bruise that was like the size of a basketball? My bruise may have not been THAT big, but it did seem like it. My legs were smaller back then (though still bigger than the vast majority of girls my age) but the bruise really did take up the entire side of my thigh.

Now that I realize how overly dramatic I am, maybe, just maybe, the situation on Wednesday night with the wanting to crawl in hole and die may not have been as bad as I perceived it to be. At least I am now trying to convince myself of that. It was one night of pure mortification and I am now forgetting it. I could try to remedy the situation if the right place and time to remedy happens to chance upon me, however, I am not going to plan on trying to remedy it. I must remember that I cannot control every situation. I can't plan everything (though I am pretty darn good at the role of Planner, I even have the shirt to prove it).

Last night when I was telling my sister about my mortifying situation, she was all, "Just act like nothing is weird. Act like you don't know what happened. Win an Oscar." I proceeded to tell her that I am no actress, but she differed with me. She knows my ways. She knows that I play off my personal life like a pro when it comes to my family and co-workers. But for some reason, I lose all my abilities to be witty, funny, charming, calm, collected, etc... when it comes to certain people. Sometimes I wish life could be played anonymously. I can be myself through email, on here, on the phone...but the suffocating reality of self doubt plays in when it comes to real life social situations. I either shell up or blabber excessively about the invisible children of Northern Uganda and how they have to walk every night to another city and sleep in this huge room lined up like dead bodies because they fear being abducted by the Lord's Resistance Army and taken to "the bush".

ummm....sounds a wee bit dramatic to me. ;)

If you're ever in a jam here's some more Grrreatt conversation pieces that will REALLY be winners:
10. Dad's undeniably OVERdramatic, anxiety-inducing, nail in friend's hand story while building a winery...in Miami...in a backyard...

9. The complete and utter devastation of the Manatee b/c stupid drunk off their a** tourists run them over with their speed boats that they haul from Miami to the Keys sitting in hours of traffic due to the one lane roads and the Large number of stupid, drunk off their a** tourists escaping the "terrifyingly busy and stressed Miami lifestyle" for which reason they are now killing off endangered mangroves and coral to build more road for the stupid, drunk off their a** tourists.

8. Nicole, Tom, Katie, Kirstie and the DRAMA of Christian Science...who REALLY gets it?!?

7. The mind-numbing dumbness of lawmakers to think that having a child's entire success in American schools be based on one huge week long of standardized testing of which every single week of school before that is spent preparing and for; and which, apparently, those in New Jersey think teachers should be paid more for kids in their class doing well on these ridiculous exams.

6. The utter inability of most drivers (besides us of course) to manage to reach slightly to the left and flip a switch indicating the fact that in a moment they will in fact actually be turning and you may want to be aware of it.

5. Not to mention, yes, you do in fact take an exam to be able to drive on road (not a hard one mind you), but where's the exam that proves you are responsible enough to actually become pregnant and have a baby.

4. Social Security: Or rather, Social Insecurity???!

3. Personal Space. Why some people get it and others don't...and how come those that don't, don't seem to know about showers either...???

2. Whatever happened to cutesy morning cartoons? Isn't enough that they already control the world's electronics and cars? Now they take control of cartoons too? Seriously, don't Smurfs sound better than YuGiOh; and Gummi Bears better than Digimon. And, why in the world did they re-do the faces of Strawberry Shortcake and the Care Bears???

1. The fact that your sister and brother-in-law just sat here and made this list on a Friday night...is that what married life is really like...?????????!!!!!!!
