Day 5 (10/4) - IJM and Prayer Mountain Day

The first thing we did on Wednesday morning was go to the Uganda office of IJM (International Justice Mission). This is a Christian human rights organization that is made up of social workers and attorneys that work on cases of injustice among the nations. They aim to help educate people about their rights as human beings and work to bring the injustice to light among the local law enforcement officials. We had the opportunity to sit down with the entire IJM Uganda staff at their morning prayer meeting. We heard about their current cases and were able to pray for them specifically. I would definitely encourage you to check out IJM's website and possibly join their prayer list. There are also several good resources listed on their site if you are interested in learning more about injustice issues. You can also check out Gary Haugen's (the president of IJM) book.



From there we headed to Africa Prayer Mountain, a mountain that overlooks Kampala and Lake Victoria that is dedicated solely to provide a place to pray for the Nations.



The view was amazing.





We learned that people regularly travel to prayer mountain to camp out in prayer and fasting for days at a time. We saw several tents set up and also an area of benches where people gather every night for group worship and prayer. We borrowed some benches and did just that.



We were also able to split up for some personal prayer time as well as into groups of two to pray over the people we met on Evangelism Day. My journey of learning to pray continued that day.
