Day 7 (10/6)- National Celebration Day

Christian Life Church organizes an annual event called the National Celebration or the Bible Believer's Convention (BBC). The BBC is the week long event and the National Celebration is the big finale. It starts at 10 am on Friday and lasts until 6 am on Saturday. That is 20 hours of worship, preaching, and praying. The event is held at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole and draws thousands of people from across the nation of Uganda.



There were several other short term mission teams from the United States in Kampala for this event. Each team had a theme, i.e.-the medical team, the adveture team (did a lot with orphan homes), etc. We were the prayer team. All of the International guests were seated in a section behind the stage. As the day and evening went on, we watched the stands filled up.





At one point, Amanda, Michael, and I decided that we wanted to infiltrate the Ugandan stands. We walked around the stadium and sat amongst the locals. After one of the speakers, they decided to call all the International guests on the stage to be prayed over. The three of us decided that if something terrible happened to us and not the rest of the team, it was because we were not on that stage. However, had we been where we were supposed to be, we could not have heard the people crying out to God for the United States and Michael could not have taken this photo:



At close to 1 am, our team went back to the guest house. The Ugandans remained in that stadium, praying and worshiping God for 5 more hours.
