Louisiana Bayou

The governor of the state of Louisiana has declared that today be a day of prayer for the people affected by Hurricane Katrina. All we can do right now is pray for these people, pray for them to have hope that their lives will be put back together, strength to face the devastation and recover from it, and calm to get them through the chaos that is now ensuing. My heart goes out to all the people in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Hurricane Katrina will be the Hurricane Andrew of those states. Andrew is the one that cost South Florida the most, the one everyone remembers, and the one that changed the area forever. Having gone through that, I know how a lot of the people feel. My family, and the entire Florida Keys, was extremely lucky. Yes, there was damage, but nothing like the complete devastation that much of Dade county faced and what the people in LA and MS are facing now. But we were affected, we were out of electricity for an extended period of time, we had evacuated, came home, and left again because the conditions were so bad. We witnessed the extreme devastation of South Miami. We saw the homes and businesses that were leveled, we saw where people had looted, we saw the messages that people spray painted on the remains of their houses warning looters to stay away. It was chaos, and I know that is what is happening now. If you have any sort of faith or belief in God, please say a prayer.
